No Two Paths
Working alongside young people and industry experts, we built a fun and innovative way to discover new career opportunities in the clean tech industry.
The situation

Celtic Sea Power is on a mission to support the growing floating offshore wind ecosystem in Cornwall and Wales. This includes bolstering the skills pipeline in the region. There are ample opportunities for young people to build meaningful skills and careers in the sector, but not everyone knows about them.

The solution

An app designed with - and that learns from - young people, making it easy to find a job that matches their skills and aspirations. Behind the scenes we apply rigorous coding and natural language processing to ensure accurate careers information is at the heart of the experience. The result is an immersive application that works simply to reveal a great career pathway.

Starting with a great design
Our client knew a careers pathway tool built for young people was needed. Taking a flexible approach to how this could be achieved gave us time to explore the options through conversation and feedback before forging ahead with the agreed design.
User engagement
Getting the interface design right means the user stays engaged, with easy questions & instinctive responses and the user leaves with clear actions & next steps in their career journey.
Getting the data right
There's a lot of data on jobs. On qualifications. On career opportunities & training courses. Not all of it is accurate or complete. We worked hard to wrangle over 500 jobs, 5,000 qualifications and 6,000 skills from five disparate public data sources across two continents into a cohesive dataset that works easily in the app.
Agile Development
"The team are incredibly capable and responsive, and take new ideas on board throughout the development process. The team has strong communication skills and can work to tough deadlines to deliver results." - Celtic Sea Power
Beyond Cornwall
Having successfully delivered the app in Cornwall, our client is now working with other regional authorities to launch the app across the UK.
